"I’m a big fan of SFI Flordis products and recently, due to the onset of menopause, moved from Premular to Femular. Femular improves my sleep and regulates my body temperature. I often recommend both of these products to friends who are looking for natural ways to regulate their hormones. I give it a 5 out 5 stars because it does exactly what it claims to be able to do."

I don't know how other people perceive menopause, I can only talk about how I perceived menopause when I was younger and how I perceive menopause now.

When I was younger, I would observe my mother who would have hot flushes and I would think that looks annoying and little more than that. Now that I'm going through this process myself, I really noticed what it's like for me and for my friends who are willing to talk about this too. I think the stigma around menopause could be a topic in and of itself. I think it's a difficult one, because menopause almost signals the end of youth and the beginning of old age and that’s a really bitter pill to swallow in today’s society. If I could guarantee to age like Judi Dench or Helen Mirren, I think I would embrace it, but I can't guarantee that, so I'm actually stemming the tide. I think it's a battle, I think it's a battle for most people.

The physical symptoms that I experienced, mostly I was hot and during the day this really wasn't a problem, no different to being in Sydney on a humid day really. But at night, that's when they became very difficult to manage. It was quite difficult to sleep and I would have to have the air conditioning on which wasn't great for my husband. So whilst I was cooling down under the air conditioning, he was freezing under the blankets. I’ve never really felt that I've had too hide physical menopause symptoms, so quite often people will disclose that they're having a hot flush, they’ll joke about hot flushes, it’s kind of normal actually. And so this has been very easy for me.

The hidden aspects of menopause though, I think much light mental illness, they're the ones that people don't discuss. It's not really dinner party chat, sit at the dinner table and start to talk about menopause symptoms. But I am lucky that a number of my friends or experiencing something similar.

I think it's hugely important that people speak up. We don't need permission to speak up, we just choose not to. I was really lucky, I have a friend who's a doctor and she came to dinner one night and she said “Hey Alex, you’re 50 now, let's talk about menopause!” and we did.

I would like women to talk about menopause more, full stop. Regardless of whether that’s out with friends or in the workplace and I think it's acceptable to talk about things that were taboo many years ago. So we quite often have well-being conversations in the workplace, it's not a problem to include this also. I’ve been using products from this particular company for a long time. Prior to using Femular I used Premular, so I already knew that I could trust this particular product. The big problem that I wanted to address was night sweats and Femular does that. I would absolutely recommend Femular to other woman who are going through menopause.
