Functional GI Disease: Solving the Therapeutic Dilemma |

Iberogast® (STW 5) was the subject of a symposium on “Functional GI Disease: Solving the Therapeutic Dilemma” held as part of the European Bridging Meeting in Gastroenterology in Berlin, Germany. Here Iberogast was recognised as the only phytotherapeutical remedy which fulfills the description of a multi-target product.
At the symposium, Prof. Michael Schemann presented the four most important targets which play a crucial role for patients with functional dyspepsia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome i.e. gastro-oesophageal motility, visceral sensitivity, inflammatory processes and intestinal motility and secretion. Iberogast is the ideal multi-target therapy because it normalises dysfunctional gastrointestinal motility, tones the lower oesophageal sphincter, reduces visceral hypersensitivity, can reduce the production of gastric acid and has anti-inflammatory properties.
