We are reminded about the importance of brain health every day in practice as our patients present with mental conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress related illness, insomnia, decline in memory and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. As natural medicine practitioners we have many wonderful brain health herbal allies, many of which will be the subject of an upcoming event entitled 'Brain health and natural medicine’. This will to be held on the 6-7th February 2012 at Swinburne University, Melbourne and Flordis is proud to be one of the event sponsors.

At this event, some of the world’s leading scientists will present their research describing interventions for improving mental functioning in young and elderly individuals as well as in dementia and psychiatric populations and include the role of genetics in mental health.

A panel discussion entitled  ‘Translating Science into Better Mental Health’ is planned to discuss the clinical implications of evidence-based integrative treatment of mental illness and the enhancement of psychological wellbeing. The panel will include:-

  • Dr Lesley Braun (co-editor of Herbs & Natural Supplements)
  • A/Prof Felice Jacka (ground-breaking researcher and daughter of renowned naturopath Alf Jacka)
  • A/Prof Paul Amminger (medical doctor and omega-3 expert)
